Syrian Rue is widely used in oriental, Chinese Kampo and Ayurvedic medicine more then 1000 years.The root of Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) is a valuable part of the plant, with several uses:
- Medicinal properties Syrian rue can increase a chemical in the body called acetylcholine. Some medications that are used for glaucoma, Alzheimer disease, and other conditions, also increase acetylcholine levels.
- Dye: Syrian rue seeds, roots, and foliage have been utilized for centuries to produce a red dye for coloring traditional rugs, tattoos, and furniture.
