Caltrops is a tropical, Asian plant that grows low and blooms yellow. Fruits, seed capsules, and leaves can be consumed but are no especially desired food. Much more important is the pharmacological effect of the plant.Caltrops, in Ayurvedic medicine known as Gokshura, among other things, causes an increase of the testosterone level and is, therefore, traditionally used as an anabolic agent and aphrodisiac in Asia. By now, Western sports medicine has also discovered it as a remedy for muscle building although this effect is not proved scientifically.
